A match made in heaven?

Today Emily told me a very funny story of Amelia and her squishing a snail and attempting to eat it. I love it. A couple of weeks ago Cate was able to find and devour a very dead snail that smelled very bad. Are they a match made in heaven or what! I hope they will always be forever friends. With Emma to follow i think they will grow to be the best of friends(or at least that is my dream)

The Lazy Days Of Summer!

Today was a little warm so the girls decided that is was time to play in the sprinklers. Its fun watching them play and here are some of the pictures from our little adventure. Where you may ask is Emma? Well she would be sitting on the Astro Turf, "I seriously don't want to get wet and cold, mom" she said that with a straight face, how old is she really? Another fun and interesting thing Emma said today was, "Dad your making me wild", as he was wrestling with her. Another note, Cate has started referring to herself as the "baby." Yes its true i think we have a premadonna on our hands.

A bicycle built for two!

Today was so nice out that we decided to play in the backyard. We have a great backyard filled with fun toys and a great new play area that Richard built for the kids. Its cemented and then has AstroTurf on top. The girls love it and it doesn't get hot in the sun or ever need to be cut. I am a very big fan of the AstroTurf and have decided that we will have it in our next house. Some people have bark or that rubber mulch but i think they are missing out on the best invention around. Enough about AstroTurf.... The girls have found a new way to play together. Riding bikes, well riding bike. Emma has discovered that Cate fits nicely on the back of her red bike, and Cate couldn't be happier. I'm so blessed with a kids that even though they are pretty far apart they can still play. I'm also thankful for a husband who spends the time to make sure our backyard is fit for children. Anyway, these are the cutest girls around so get a good look and be jealous..be very jealous!

War Birds In Action!

Today we had a very full day, we accompanied the boy scouts to the shafter air show. The girls had a blast. We watched loud planes do cool tricks and ate yummy food(that was my favorite part!). Emma loves planes and couldn't get enough of them. They were so close that she could see the pilots and wave to them. Richard took her to tour some of the really big ones. Cate had so much fun just wandering around and checking out the people. Richards boy scouts had a great time wandering around and looking at the planes. This picture is of Emma in front of one of the planes that was at the show. Also this is the plane that Richard's friend owns and took him up in last year. Emma was excited to finally see the orange pane that daddy went in. Cate was so tired by the end of the day that she fell asleep in her stroller and then bent at the waist and hit the asphalt. This resulted in a nice cut on top of her nose. She didn't cry though, she just fell back asleep. Richard is now calling her Scarface! After the long day was bath time and they like bath time as much as the field trip we had. We had a blast today and miss our family! Wish you were here!

Naptime anyone?

So every afternoon i get soooooo excited, why you ask well..... its naptime. I looooove naptime. I cant express in words the joy i feel during this time. I love the quiet in the house and i especially love being able to laydown myself and just relax for an hour. My children do not feel the same about naptime, they actually have come to hate that hour. Which really puts a damper on my "free" time. This picture is a result of naptime. Every day i have the chioce i can either put the girls together and have them end up in the crib playing, thus aborting any nap. Or i can put Emma in my bed and take the chance of her getting into everything i own. Today i took the wild card and put her in my bed. Yes, that is mascara on her face. I took a picture and then put her in timeout, i think she was confused! but i think they are both asleep now....so im off to the couch for some me time.

I love my Daddy!!

I cant imagine anyone liking their dad as much as our girls do. It took Emma about two years to really figure out that he was amazing, Cate somehow knew right away. I can sometimes get a little peeved that they can be throwing huge tantrums but as soon as the garagedoor opens all is well! But I must say that Richard works very hard to be the favorite so maybe he deserves it. He buys them icecream, takes them in their wagon and throws them in the air constantly. I guess he is more fun then me......Oh well....maybe the next one will be mine.

Dog eat dog world

It only took about 6 years for Nathalie to convince me that a dog was a good idea. You see, I have never had as much as a fish and so Lucy, the newest member of the fam is not only Emma and Cate's first pet, but mine also. I will have to admit, she is cute and loveable and I certainly wish that humans could follow a similar learning curve and potty train by the time they are 9 weeks old. Anyway, Emma loves having another playmate and Cate loves the dog food...

Happy Easter Everyone

Well we finally stepped into the age of blogs! We will be trying diligently to keep up with pictures and info on the California Thurston's. For Easter we traveled to Fresno to spend time with the Hank's family, we had a blast and are thankful for their friendship. Sunday morning was a little hectic. We had to wake the girls up extra early to get to church on time...and these are the pictures that came from that. The girls(and the parents) were really tired and it took a few minutes to get into the Easter basket thing, but they prevailed! Cate was unsure at first but soon discovered candy at the bottom of her basket. Emma was thrilled that breakfast was skipped for candy. Oh well. Life goes on. We had a wonderful Easter and hope everyone did too.
